Skilled workers have education, work experience, knowledge of English or French and other abilities that will help them to establish themselves successfully as permanent residents in Canada.
Applying to come to Canada as a skilled worker is not difficult. Consult this section to find all the information and forms you need to make your application.

Business Class Immigration:
Canada has a strong economic culture. If you have experience running or investing in businesses, you may qualify to come to Canada as a business immigrant.
The Business Immigration Program seeks to attract experienced business people to Canada who will support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy. Business immigrants are expected to make a $400,000 investment or to own and manage businesses in Canada.
Canada has three classes of business immigrants, each with separate eligibility criteria: investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed persons. Each application can be made for only one class and once the application is submitted, the class cannot be changed.
Investors
Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) seeks to attract experienced business persons and their capital to Canada. Investors must demonstrate business experience and a legally obtained minimum net worth of CAN $800,000, and must make an investment of CAN $400,000.
Entrepreneurs
The Entrepreneur Program seeks to attract experienced business persons who will own and actively manage businesses in Canada that contribute to the economy and create jobs. Entrepreneurs must demonstrate business experience and a minimum legally obtained net worth of CAN $300,000, and are subject to conditions upon arrival in Canada.
Self-employed persons
The Self-Employed Persons Program seeks to attract applicants who have the intention and ability to become self-employed in Canada. Self-employed persons are required to have either (a) relevant experience that will enable them to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada, or (b) experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.
Provincial Nomination:
Most Canadian provinces have programs that encourage immigrants to settle in those provinces and benefit their economies. Learn about settling in one of Canada’s provinces as a provincial nominee.
Most provinces in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that allows them to play a more direct role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province. If you wish to immigrate to one of Canada’s provinces as a provincial nominee, you must first apply to the province where you wish to settle. The province will consider your application based on their immigration needs and your genuine intention to settle there.
Before applying to immigrate to Canada, provincial nominees must complete the provincial nomination process. Contact the province for more information.
Provincial nominees are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program.

Sponsors must promise to support the relative or family member and their accompanying family members for a period of three to 10 years to help them settle in Canada.
You can sponsor relatives or family members from abroad if they are:
-
your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner 16 years of age or older;
-
your parents or grandparents;
-
your dependent children, including adopted children;
-
children under 18 years of age whom you intend to adopt;
-
your brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or grandchildren who are orphans; under the age of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship; or
-
a relative of any age if you do not have an aunt, uncle or family member from the list above who you could sponsor or who is already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident.
